How apple co founder Steve Jobs crack the future of mobile in 2008
New Delhi Steve Jobs needs no introduction. Time and again, the man has been pressed for his visionary Outlook that has transformed the consumer electronics as we use them today. And a decade letter since he launched the first iPhone, his prediction has kind of come true.
Both the information and the Wall Street Journal have jointly published and audio inteview from 2008 of Steve Jobs when he was interviewed by Nick Wingfield.
" I think there are lot of people and I am one of them who believe that mobiles going to get quite serious because there are things you can do......... Obviously, mobiles with you all the time, but there is service you can provide with mobile that obviously are not relevant on a desktop, such as location based services integrated into your application. They can be might be useful and we are just at the tip of that that's going to be huge, I think."
Another prediction that came true was regarding the future of app store. "Who knows? Maybe it will be a billion dollar market place at some point in time. This doesn't happen very often. A whole new billion dollar market opens up. 360 million in the first 30 days, I have never seen anything like this in my career for software."
The app store that also turned 10 this years han over 500 million weekly visitors and has helped developers earn more than dollar 100 billion dollars over the years.
During the interview he also broke it down what the app store essentially did. "The way we think about this is that the app store is to iPhone like iTunes is to iPod. Just like with the iPod where we enhence it with an internet service to bring content to i.t We are doing the same thing with the iPhone. we are enhancing it with an internet service to deliver content right to the phone. In this case, since we are already being the iTunes music content to the phone. We are bringing applications. With think that the result........ It's the same exact strategy as the iPod in has the device with Internet delivered content. Beyond iTunes, we can wirelessly deliver the content write on the device without of PC. We can automatically update the app. It's standing on the shoulders of iTune."
